WWW,
June 2006 - When you open the website, it
doesn't take long before you hear the first
sounds. It's the result of a media player in
the opening page of Mad Professor's official
Website. And that media player enables you
to play some truly nice material.
The Mad
Professor, aka Neil Fraser, doesn't really
need an introduction. He is one of the
leading forces in the UK DUB scene and even
more. Numerous Jamaican vocalists have
entered the gates of Ariwa to voice over the
specific Mad Professor riddims. And the Mad
Professor himself has been travelling all
over the world with his posse in order to
forward the Reggae Vibe to literally the
four corners of the earth.
On the
website, there is a very interesting section
of articles and news. Kind of unique, as in
these articles you can be introduced to the
interesting view of the Mad Professor. He's
definitely not afraid to mention things
which truly bother him: possible relations
between certain musical styles and violence,
for example. And we highly respect him for
speaking out on matters which have been
under the band of a political correct taboo
much too long.
You will
definitely spend quite some time after
discovering Mad Professor's writings.
Possibly, you might even forget for a minute
or two, that he has released numerous albums
and singles from his Ariwa studio. .
Fortunately,
this is not forgotten by the webmaster of
the website. The complete catalogue of Ariwa
sounds is presented on-site. It's a very
impressive list, where many Reggae Greats
give acte d' presence: U Roy, Yabby
You, Michael Prohet, Horace Andy, Johnny
Clarke, the list goes on and on and on. Many
of the almost 200 albums come with sound
clips, too.
Ariwa
hasn't only released albums with known
Jamaican vocalists, also their own group of
artists is kind of impressive. Macka B, for
example. And from all these artists, you can
find some nice biographies as well.
The artists
are important. But for the hard core Mad
Professor fan, his working place is equally
important. The site therefore contains some
interesting pages about Ariwa's two
different studio's as well.
Another
nice part of the Ariwa website is the
impressive photo album. The pictures show,
what words cannot describe. They surely will
make you want to experience a Mad Professor
concert in an area near you.
A visit to
Mad Professor's website will not dissapoint
you. Defenitiely not. The site is truly
packed with Sights And Sounds!
