WWW,
February 2006 - There's an old track by the
Wailers called "400 Years".
There's also a magazine with the same name.
Thusfar, only four issues have been released
in print and it doesn't look like there's
gonna be a fifth one soon either.
Is this a
reason to feature a website that hasn't been
updated in a very long time? No, of course
not. We regret the fact that the 400 years
of slavery continues until this day while
there are only four issues of the magazine.
However,
the quality of Carter Van Pelt's website is
so high that it doesn't matter how the site
isn't updated for a long time now. Every
Reggae lover will spend hours and hours on
the site still, because of the valueable
contents. Carter Van Pelt has
"simply" made a name for himself
as many know him for his knowledgable
questions and insightfull comments. So, the
information that the website contains is
truly priceless.
The four
issues of 400 Years is not the only
publication you can find on Carter Van
Pelt's website. The website is literally
filled with dozens of exclusive interviews,
some of which are not even published
elsewhere. And these are interviews with
some of the biggest names in Reggae Music!
There's Sly
Dunbar talking about Dancehall Music, for
example. Or Mutabaruka speaking about live
musicians and how it is hard to find space
for a drum kit in a lot of Jamaican
studio's. The story of Steel Pulse can be
found there, and Carter Van Pelt even has
the last or second-to-last interview with
the Crown Prince Of Reggae, Dennis Brown!
Needless to
say, that the real lover of Reggae Music
will love to experience Carter Van Pelt's
great site. This is the kind of website
where reading the words will automatically
bring the music in your ears even when it's
not playing!
